Outside Time and Visits from Grammy and Grumpy

Dear Daddy,
Thank you for coming home this weekend. We had a lot of fun, didn't we??? I sure miss you. In case you have forgotten, I'm posting some pictures of us having fun at the park here.

Here you are trying to tell me what sound a cow makes. I will humor you at the end of this movie, but these cows sound pretty quiet to me.

Oh yeah, and here is my "Animal House" impression -- how much jello can I shove in my mouth at once? Bluto rocks. FOOD FIGHT!

While you were gone Grammy and Grumpy came to visit me. It is nice to have them here. I get very very spoiled! I like it! And they forget all about those other two people... (I call them Mommy and Uncle Ken). Mommy is okay with it, but Uncle Ken gets a little perturbed... There are not as many pictures as usual of Grammy and Grumpy's visit, because, well frankly I'm embarrassed to say that I got Grumpy sick. I blame it all on this kid in my class though, I swear!

We listened to a band at school this week and had a picnic. Mommy came to see the band with me. I got my groove on.

And finally Daddy, Mommy and I walked the five mile March of Dimes walk this morning. Shoowee. It was a LONG walk. I talked with everyone I saw and had a great time eating crackers and drinking juice while Mommy pushed the stroller. I don't have any pictures of today, but it was a lot of fun. And we raised $325 for the March Of Dimes. Thanks everyone!

I hope you come home soon Daddy.

Love,
LittleBear

Hey Daddy,

Dear Daddy,
This post is from your LittleBear. Mommy got me my very own potty today! At first I wasn't sure what to do with it, but as you can see from the videos, I am really into it now! In more ways than one...

This potty rocks!

Ha! I fooled the potty. I'm pretty clever. Who needs this potty thing anyway? I'm important enough to have everyone else rushing to change my diaper.

Well, that's all for now. I should be in bed! Catch ya' on the flip side Pop.
Love,
LittleBear

It's spring!

In an effort to entertain Daniel while Mark is away, I took him to Maymont Park this afternoon. It was our first time there and it awesome! The flowers were blooming, the kids were out playing. The ice cream man even stopped by.

I'm posting some pictures so Schmoopie will feel like he was there. Here are some pictures of Daniel playing in the cherry blossom petals. (Papa, this really inspired me to get my real camera out and take some pictures when I have someone to help watch Daniel)

Dan even got to see some flowers. He was very gentle.

And then I suggested he sniff the flower, so he leaned in closer...

And, wait for it...

Attempted to eat it. Sigh. We'll keep working on that.

As we left the park there was a man playing the cello on a park bench. Daniel put his head on my shoulder and listened in rapt attention to the music for 15-20 minutes. Maybe he has found his niche? Or the music lessons are paying off?

Our Exciting Week

Last weekend we took the boys and Parker to the Irish festival downtown. It was a lot of fun, as you can see.

Dan also got to take a field trip with his school to the William and Mary 's sunken gardens where they flew kites. He had a really good time. These pictures were taken by one of the college students who works at the daycare.

I had to call Daniel's doctor twice this week for medical mishaps and run him to the office once for a completely separate emergency. When I call now and I tell them Dan's name they recognize him immediately and change from the official businesslike persona to asking how DanMan is doing. Perhaps I should relocate my office into their building?

Dan had vaccines last week and ended up with a rash in those spots last Saturday night. The Emergency nurse wanted us to take Dan to the ER -- Saturday night, Downtown Richmond, City Hospital... ummm. no. I put some ointment on them and they were fine. Reaction to the band-aid. Then on Monday Daniel fell at school right into the sharp end of a cabinet. I will post a picture here, but it doesn't do the injury justice. I have never seen a goose-egg before, but now I can say I have. It was an actual EGG on his head. I almost passed out. The daycare ladies were beside themselves. However, ICE works! The next morning the swelling had gone down considerably (which is when this picture was taken) and the next day the swelling was gone. He is a tough kid. I held it together pretty well until we got to the doctor's office and they rushed him back and said he DIDN'T need a catscan for a skull fracture. Then I hugged the doctor and the nurse.

Finally last night, I got him ready for his bath and noticed that he had a tick under his arm. Yikes. Luckily it hadn't been there too long. Bear was a trooper.

In lighter news, Daniel started drinking out of a cup this past weekend. Not only do you get to witness this, but you can see him using some of his sign language. Man, that 'more" sign gets used every day.
Enjoy!

Almost Forgot

As I was updating our blog and adding new features, I realized that Godzilla, who is nominally mentioned in this blog, hasn't had a lot of face time. So, I dedicate this post to Godzilla.
